Hunters Education

The Hernando Sportsman's Club, an NRA affiliate Club, in cooperation with the State of Florida will offer the State Certified Hunter Education Program. This course will cover the following subjects: 1) Gun and Wildlife Laws, 2) Hunting Ethics, 3) Firearm Nomenclature, 4) Ammunition Nomenclature, 5) Safe Gun Handling, 6) Wildlife I.D., 7) Field First Aid, 8) Survival, 9) Black Powder Firearms, 10) Wildlife Management, 11) Bow Hunting, and 12) Marksmanship.

"IT'S THE LAW" "A person born after June 1, 1975, may not be issued a license to take wildlife animal life with the use of a firearm (including a muzzleloader) gun, bow, or crossbow in this state without first having successfully completed a hunter education course."

Registration is through the Hernando Sportsman's Club. Please call the clubhouse at 352-597-9931 to register.

Cost of this course is no charge. All equipment and materials are provided.

Class is approximately 16 hours over 3 days including 'Range Time'.

  • First class is held on a Friday night beginning at 6:30 pm and ending at 9:30 pm in the Clubhouse at the Hernando Sportsman's Club Range.

  • Second class is held the next Saturday starting a 8:00 am and ending at 5:00 pm at the Hernando Sportsman's Club Range.

  • Third and final class is held on the following Saturday at 8:00 am and ending at 4:00 pm at the Hernando Sportsman's Club Range. This class will include written and field testing of all subject covered in the course.
